To All Who Come To This Happy Place – Welcome

February 4, 2018

Here you leave today and enter the world of yesterday…

Tomorrow…

(Maybe not quite tomorrow…unless this lottery ticket is a winner.)

And fantasy…

Definitely fantasy.

Hello and welcome to One Can’s Dream! My name is Candace and I’ll be your chief blogger today. We’ll begin blogging in a few minutes but first I’d like to acquaint you with an introduction.

I’m Candace. The Can of One Can’s Dream. And it might come as a surprise so I’ll just be candid, honest and upfront right from the start but I love Disney.

So, here it is – another Disney blog. It’s like another dessert party. Another Epcot festival. Another place to get great craft beer on Disney property (wait…).

But yes, another Disney blog this is. I hope to be able to offer a little something different. I’m 31 years old and married to Joe. Our trips and Disney experiences have been more adult-focused (though I love me a Mickey meet and greet and a trip on It’s a Small World) as we’re not parents quite yet. My vision for this blog is to discuss a range of Disney experiences and also to spark discussion on various fun Disney topics.

I like to think my parents knew from the age of one that I would have a love for all things Disney:

Start ’em young.

But something tells me I’m not the only one year old with a Disney-themed birthday party.

After my one year old birthday party, I figured I’d give myself a few years until my next Disney experience (mom, you’re welcome for not making you push a stroller around Disney).

I started a career as Snow White around ’94:

But never forgot my roots:

There were a couple other visits throughout childhood as childhoods go.

After taking a little break to get some education (or attend college, anyway…), you can guess how I decided the best way to celebrate graduate school graduation was.

And the best way to celebrate of all?

Joe knew me well enough to know that if we were going to spend forever together, he was going to have to ask during Wishes. You know the picture on the left was staged and occurred after the actual proposal since there’s actually room to breathe around us and no iPads blocking the castle in front of us.

We had an AWESOME trip together and this started Joe’s appreciation for Disney (what a relief too because that staged proposal picture might not exist if he didn’t appreciate Disney. Kidding. Kind of).

We stayed away for about nine months until we decided the heat in Florida can’t be THAT bad (LOL) and booked a trip at the end of September.

I’ll spare you the pictures of us red-faced and wrapped in cooling towels from that trip. But we did manage to fit this one in to make sure we wouldn’t forget our wedding date.

On that trip, we also learned an important Disney tip: Never go from a deluxe, club level room to a value resort on the same trip. I’m not hating on the values (I love Pop!) but I wouldn’t go from unlimited African beer and snacks with a balcony view of giraffes and zebras to All-Star Sports again.

Then we took a break to actually follow through on that proposal and, ya know, get married. But Disney wasn’t far on the wedding day.

After the wedding, we did what any newlywed couple would do and filed for bankruptcy. Kidding, we did that after we got the honeymoon(s) in.

We decided we wanted to do something a little different and both agreed on Alaska for the honeymoon. On the Disney Wonder. But that wasn’t until May and we got married in August. I’m not sure what anyone expected us to do – stay away for nine months? Lol, no thanks.

So, we took our first quick weekend trip in December. Also referred to as Honeymoon Part 1. #America

The actual honeymoon was amazing. Experiencing Disney Cruise Line and Alaska was so much fun. I’m so grateful I didn’t cry when we were leaving the ship on our last day!…………………….

We went on another quick weekend trip in September 2017 to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary. I surprised Joe with the Behind the Seeds Tour which we loved thanks to our obsession with Living with the Land (I’m just not sure why Big Thunder is referred to as The Wildest Ride in the Wilderness when Living with the Land exists).

And our most recent trip happened just two weeks ago! We went for a full week with Joe’s family and had such an awesome time!

Have you heard of this new Memory Maker face-filter effect?

One thing I’ve learned in all of these Disney experiences is how important, resourceful, and knowledgeable the Disney community is. I’ve learned SO much from message boards and Facebook groups and that’s part of the purpose I hope this blog serves. But a big part of that is YOU! Interacting with other Disney fans is a way to exchange information, enhance our trip experiences and be a part of a community of people who understand the “why” behind the question we’ve all heard: “You’re going to Disney AGAIN?”

So I hope you’ll join me on this adventure! Feel free to comment here or follow me on Instagram @onecansdream – I would love to hear from you!

The next few posts will be documenting our Alaska and Disney Cruise Line trip from last May 2017. We had such a great time and I know Alaska cruise season is coming up soon!

See ya real soon!
